A Whisper in Winterfell: The North Remembers

Inspired by George R.R. Martin's novel: A Game of Thrones

In the frosty expanse of the Northern territory, lay a silent castle named Winterfell, home to the illustrious House Stark. Eddard Stark, the honorable Warden of the North, brooded alone in his study. A letter, arrived at dawn, perturbed him. It carried a dangerous secret, a secret that could light the Seven Kingdoms aflame. The king's friend, Jon Arryn was dead. A message from his wife implied that it was murder, orchestrated by Queen Cersei, of House Lannister.

Known for their crest that bore a golden lion, the Lannisters were wealthy and influential. Eddard knew that Queen Cersei had ambitions, but he hadn't suspected her capable of murder. His old friend, Robert Baratheon, King of the Seven Kingdoms, was oblivious. He was too busy enjoying the pleasures of the court, unaware of the gathering storm.

Outside the study, Winterfell was alive. The courtyard bustled with squires practicing under the watchful eye of Ser Rodrik. The soft smile of Lady Catelyn Stark warmed the castle, even in winter. Her devotion to her family was unwavering. Her eyes, however, held a shadow. Their son, Bran, had taken a liking to climbing the towering castle walls, and his reckless pursuit filled her heart with dread.

A day's ride away, Jon Snow, the brooding bastard son of Eddard Stark, had just arrived at The Wall - a massive fortification of ice, built to keep the wildlings and horrors of the North from breaching the realm. In front of him, the choice to devote his life to the Night's Watch, the brotherhood that guarded The Wall, loomed.

Back in Winterfell, the king had arrived. He had brought with him an offer for Eddard - to serve as the Hand of the king in the capital, King's Landing. Amidst the merriment, Eddard watched Cersei, her emerald eyes unreadable. Secrets swirled around the Seven Kingdoms, and he was about to plunge into the eye of the storm.

As the moon claimed the sky, Bran climbed to his usual perch. From here, he had a view of the castle, its towers kissing the stars. Suddenly, a chill ran down his spine, and he turned to see a figure watching him – Queen Cersei. Caught in a dangerous secret, Bran’s world turned upside down.

The tale was far from over as the Game of Thrones had just begun, where you win or you die. The truth comes at a cost, and Eddard Stark was about to pay that price.
