It was the middle of autumn and Ramona Quimby, age 8, was feeling restless. She was used to her usual adventures, but these days, school and homework took most of her time. She missed the moments of spontaneity and freedom. One day, while rummaging through the attic, she stumbled upon an old photo album. It contained pictures of her parents, Aunt Bea, and of her when she was just a toddler. An idea sparked in her mind. She decided to make her family history project for school.

As the summer sun painted the town of Klickitat Street golden, Ramona Quimby, a lively, scrappy second grader was planning her biggest picnic yet. Ramona's adventurous spirit was already well known in their neighborhood, her antics earning her the title 'Ramona the Pest.' This time, she was excited to prove that she could organize a fun, memorable event without any pest-like behaviour. Wearing her most favorite overalls and wide brimmed hat, she set off to the park, her picnic basket swinging in her small, determined hands.
